Matthew has been part of our Rotherham health club for an incredible 17 years, and his commitment to fitness is nothing short of inspiring.
What began as a love of swimming - regularly clocking up hundreds of lengths in a single session - has grown into a varied and impressive fitness routine that continues to evolve. Outside the club, Matthew is a dedicated runner, taking part in Parkrun every Saturday, completing countless races over the years, and even tackling the Manchester Marathon, finishing in an outstanding 3 hours and 14 minutes.
Around 13 months ago, a temporary pool closure prompted Matthew to try something new. He booked a B-Coached session with one of our fitness advisors and, for the first time, introduced structured weight training into his routine. The impact was immediate and significant, building strength that has since dramatically improved both his swimming and running performance.
Today, Matthew runs, swims, and weight trains several times a week, making the most of everything his membership has to offer. And after all that hard work, you’ll often spot him in our café bar enjoying a well-earned treat, usually a cup of tea and a bacon bun, or his other favourite, chocolate shortbread.
Matthew’s journey is a brilliant example of what consistency, dedication, and the right guidance can achieve and how trying something new can unlock even greater results.
